ABOUT US

Little Halos Bilingual Day School is a ministry of St. Athanasius the Great Greek Orthodox Church, located in Arlington, MA. The Day school is dedicated to providing preschool children with a spiritually grounded environment for their education in Greek and English, and their growth and development.

The the need for creating such a school to educate the children at an early age is now lead by Argyro Nikoletos, to execute and direct this mission. Argyro has great passion and patience to develop and nurture the academic and cultural growth of each child enrolled in the school. Little Halos began in September 2006.

Mission Statement

The St. Athanasius Little Halos Bilingual Day School is committed to providing children with a quality education that emphasizes social, emotional, academic, cultural, and spiritual development through play, and both emergent and didactic curricula.

Our belief is that children are active learners, explorers, experimenters, storytellers, and artists. In our child-centered classrooms, children have many opportunities to learn about literacy, numeracy, democratic and empathetic citizenship, as well as Greek culture and Orthodox religion.

They accomplish this through play, the fundamental building block of academic learning for young children. All learning occurs in a Greek/English bilingual context as it fosters the building of creative and flexible brains and minds.

Purpose

For over 15 years, our goal has been to educate children by developing their social emotional, cognitive and physical skills with additional exposure to Hellenic culture and Orthodox Christianity all while learning Greek and English at the same.

Philosophy

Little Halos Bilingual Preschool, is a great way to become immersed into a bilingual environment regardless your ethnic background and religion.

Emphasis is given on the development of social and independent skills by allowing and encouraging them to take responsibility for themselves whenever possible.

Our school offers a loving and caring environment where safety of the children is a priority.

We were thrilled when we moved to the Boston area and found that there was a bilingual preschool for our son to attend. The teachers at Little Halos are like extended family for our child and for us. We are so happy that he is able to be exposed to the Greek language and culture on a daily basis. We love that the school is small. Our son is nurtured academically, socially and emotionally. We appreciate that our son is being prepared for kindergarten in a play-based, age-appropriate way. The teachers are caring, warm and do a wonderful job communicating with families, sending photos and weekly updates. We strongly recommend Little Halos Preschool!

Little Halos is an amazing preschool/ pre K program! Our boys attended the school a few years back and still talk about it to date “Mom, Do you remember I pressed the grapes with my feet to turn grape juice into wine?”! Hands on activities to reflect Greek culture, customs, Greek songs and emphasis to the language, the combination of teaching methods are making this school so special! Nonetheless, when time for Kindergarten screening arrived, boys were well prepared academically in English too! School’s bilingual setting, the small number of kids in group, the attention to each individual’s needs made a huge impact on their confidence. They loved their teachers and they were always happy to see their friends in the morning! We are truly blessed in Boston to have such a gem school! We highly recommend Little Halos School!

Coming from Germany to US we were stressed about how Eirini would find her new preschool. At Little Halos, she felt like home from day one and she loved going there every single day.
